The Liver Cleansing Diet is a detox regime created by Dr. Sandra Cabot to effectively cleanse the liver.
The liver is just one of many essential organs that naturally detox the body. In fact, the liver acts as a filter for removing or breaking down toxins like ammonia, drugs, alcohol, and other chemicals to which we’re exposed in the modern world, but when overloaded with toxins it is no longer able to effectively fulfill its job as in house cleaner. Thus people begin to experience problems with digestion, allergies, excessive weight gain, chronic fatigue and much more.
This detox diet follows several basic ideas: stick to raw organic fruits and vegetables, no refined sugars or processed foods, and absolutely no caffeine. These regulations are thought to provide all essential nutrients and calories while not overwhelming the liver and thus allowing it to rid itself of accumulated toxins.
This diet must be strictly adhered to in order to be a success. A meal plan for the full month on this diet can be found in Dr. Cabot’s book The Liver Cleansing Diet.
