Eat-Stop-Eat is a detox diet regime based on feeding and fasting. This diet was created by Brad Pilon, a veteran in the sports supplement industry, in an effort to figure out the best way to lose weight while still being healthy. After much research, Pilon concluded that prolonged calorie restriction is the only proven nutritional method of weight loss.
Eat-Stop-Eat Diet Basics
According to Pilon’s research he says that our bodies are designed to be in a constant cycle of feeding and fasting. These were the eating patterns of our ancestors for thousands of years, as food wasn’t always readily available.
While many nutrition experts say that regular small meals are the only way to keep the metabolism up, Pilon says the contrary. He has conducted scientific studies that he says indicate no reduction in the metabolism even over time.
Eat-Stop-Eat tells dieters to fast for 24 hours, once or twice a week. This will help keep calorie intake under control, and will likely result in fewer calories being consumed over the course of the week than if you were following a strict diet.
Pilon’s fasting advice is to eat normally one day up until 6pm and then fast until 6pm the following day. This makes the process not nearly as gruelling as you aren’t stopping eating for an entire day, but still provides all the same fasting benefits.
Recommended foods during this diet include: fruits, vegetables, lean protein, herbs, spices, coffee, tea, and artificial sweeteners.
Eat-Stop-Eat Benefits
The benefits of this diet regime are numerous.
• The one or two day a week fast is a great opportunity for your body to metabolize food, nutrients, and rid itself of toxins.
• It does not require elimination of foods or adjustment of your normal diet unless you want to for increased benefits.
• Short-term intermittent fasting has been linked to longer life, slower signs of aging, and fewer illnesses.
Eat-Stop-Eat is not a suitable diet for everyone because of the fasting. The following individuals should NOT attempt this diet:
• Pregnant or nursing women
• Senior citizens or children
• Diabetics or those with serious illnesses.

One thing that I should warn to all those about to try any detox technique, make sure you drink lots and lots of water. Without water, you can't expect to experience great results.
I had a rude awakening after years of eating junk food and processed foods. Today, I feel much better thanks to reading about detox methods. Thanks.
