The raw food diet has been around for years now and become quite famous because of its celebrity following. Yet now there is a new detox diet called Quantum Eating that adds a new twist to this traditional detox and healthy eating method.
Quantum Eating was created by Tonya Zavasta, a mechanical engineer and theoretical mathematician. This detox diet combines a raw food diet regime with set eating times and intermittent fasting. The diet’s name Quantum Eating comes from Zavasta’s comparison of diet with quantum physics. She says that raw living foods have a higher degree of order because the nutrients are not disrupted and that is reflected in our bodies as improved health.
Quantum Eating Basics
The Quantum Eating Diet requires the dieter to eat a 100% raw food diet. You eat two of these raw food meals in the first part of the day and your entire daily food intake should be consumed within 8 hours of waking and preferably before 3pm. If you are a late riser you can eat later but just make sure that your last meal is eaten at least 6 hours before you go to sleep. Resulting in approximately 16 hours of fasting every day.
By eating all raw foods your body gets more nutrients and is exposed to many anti-aging benefits. The sixteen hour daily fast is also important in that it gives your body time to digest, cleanse, and repair itself, while not being bombarded with more food and chemicals to process.
Optional Addition
Quantum Eating also recommends a little known technique of dry-fasting. This is a detoxing and healing treatment used in Russia that takes fasting to a new level. In most fasts you are allowed to drink water, and sometimes even juice, but in dry fasting you abstain from all foods and liquids. Russian doctors swear by this technique and claim that it is far more effective than a liquid-fast, with noted health and aesthetic benefits. Zavasta uses this technique in her diet, and recommends it to others for speedier recoveries from illness and degenerative disorders as the body releases double the amount of toxins into the bloodstream, as they make their way to the colon and bladder for disposal. She cautions, however, that to prevent dehydration, you must drink lots of fluids in your 8 hours of non-fasting each day.
Who Can Use the Quantum Eating Diet
Unfortunately, because of the strict nature of the diet, Quantum Eating is not an appropriate regime for everyone. Individuals that should NOT use this diet include:
• Diabetics
• Elderly
• Children
• Those with a serious illness
• People who are underweight
• Pregnant or breastfeeding women
