The Feet’s Role in Detoxing
The role of feet in body healing has been prevalent in holistic medicine for centuries. In fact, as stated by the law of similars, “Whatever is happening inside the body is identical and similar at the end of the nerves in the hands and feet.” Akin to the hands, feet are divided into zones that correspond directly to the various bodily systems. And by simply targeting a certain area of the foot, we are able to get an idea of how healthy our organs truly are. For example, the healthiness of the small intestine, colon and kidneys can all be assessed by the state of the nerves in the foot’s arches, while the nerves correlating with the sinuses can be found in the tips of the toes.
How Detox Foot Pads Work
Realizing the interconnectedness of the body, experts thus believe that these systems can be detoxed through the manual stimulation of the desired areas of the feet. By placing an adhesive detox pad (similar to a band-aid) on the targeted area of the foot, the combination of herbs, saps and other natural ingredients encourage the natural opening of acupuncture points in the feet through heat that increases circulation and draw toxins out into the pad. This stimulation results in the breakdown of water and waste molecules that free blockages in the circulatory and lymphatic systems.
Depending on the state of your organs, detox effects can be felt in days or could take several weeks to have their cleansing effects. The pads should be applied every night when you go to bed and removed the following morning. You will know when the cleansing begins to take place because the foot pads will change colour from their naturally white state to beige, brown or even black discoloration. Once the detox has been effectively completed there should no longer be a discharge or discoloration into the pad.
Do you need a foot detox?
While everyone could almost undoubtedly benefit from the removal of toxins from their body, the use of foot pads are especially helpful to:
• Relieve pain and discomfort of arthritis
• Improve immunity system
• Cleanse the lymphatic system
• Increase vitality and energy
• Reduce stress and anxiety
• Improve circulation
• Improve sleep
• Enhance mental focus and concentration
• Soothe headaches
What Ingredients Should Your Foot Pads Contain?
Detox foot pads contain natural ingredients that stimulate the nerve points and draw out harmful substances. Depending on the brand that you choose and its detoxing focus, there could be a slight variation in the product’s ingredients. As a guideline, however, most effective detox foot pads will contain the following ingredients:
Wood Vinegar- This natural remedy has great absorption and sterilization properties that help to rid the body of toxins. It is also an effective combatant of minor pain and swelling.
Bamboo Vinegar- This vinegar has the ability to effectively remove unnecessary waste matter from the body.
Chitosan (Shellfish) - This product has a natural ability to promote healing of burns and skin inflammation.
Tourmaline- This is a mineral that uses a cleansing and invigorating energy to stimulate and stabilize the nervous system.
Vitamin C- This ingredient prevents oxidation in metabolism.
