Components of a Healthy Detox Diet


A healthy detox diet would consist of ways for you to detox your body without causing stress. Diets can be stressful and hard for many people, but detoxing your body is a natural way to be healthy. Every person’s body needs cleansing just like people need to keep their environments clean in order to avoid virus and bacteria build up. In order for you to clean the inside of your body you need to learn how to detox your body so that your body can rid itself of toxins that have been building up inside of it.

Healthy ways to Detox your Body

When you think of detoxing your body you may jump to the conclusion that you have to fast and only drink water for a certain period of time. Fasting for a day is a good way to detox your body, but it is not a necessity. Your body needs nutrients in order to function properly and there is a multitude of ways to help flush toxins out of your system without starving yourself.

If you would like to go on a week diet that will help you to shed a few pounds but ultimately will be a healthy detox diet for you to enjoy, follow these tips and incorporate them into your schedule.

Detox Diet

A healthy detox diet should include fruits and vegetables.

  1. Drink more purified water. The more water you drink the more toxins will be flushed out of your body. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day, at least eight cups, but more if you can, will help control hunger and will also provide you with a natural toxin flush of your system.
  2. Just like with any diet you need to exercise. Exercise is a key for a healthy body but it also causes you to sweat which is one of the number one ways for excess toxins to the leave your body. If you would like to increase your sweating, go to a sauna and release toxins that way as well.
  3. Fill up on as much fruits and vegetables as you can. Try to replace your meals with an abundance of high fiber fruits and veggies. This will help you remove toxins and provide you with all of the antioxidants and nutrients your body needs. Fiber rich fruits and veggies include spinach, broccoli, avocados, mangos, blueberries, raspberries, artichokes squash, and beans.
  4. Use a body brush or scrubber and remove dead skin and bacteria before you take a shower or bath. Also, use hot water to wash yourself with to help remove bacteria hanging on your body; you can also soak in a salt bath.
  5. Eat oranges, lemons, or limes daily. The citric acid helps to dissolve excess toxins in the body and helps improve the function of your liver. Lemons contain the highest amount of citric acid and can easily be added to your water consumption.
  6. Drink herbal tea. Drinking herbal tea is a great source of antioxidants as well as water and it will help to cleanse your body. You can buy a detox tea or you can drink green tea.
  7. The last important detox tip to remember is stress relief. Try to incorporate some yoga and meditation into your daily routine. Stress is an underlying cause of toxin buildup and excess fat build up. Stress can cause your body to function slower and cause physical ailments to occur. It is important to keep your mind just as healthy as your body and medication or a relaxation activity, such as yoga, can help to alleviate stress.

How far and how strict you want to take your detox diet is up to you, but by flushing toxins out of your system you are already making your body healthier. If you would like to lose weight in addition to detoxing, you should exercise more and replace high fat foods and carbohydrates with healthier food such as fruits and vegetables.
