Even if you pay close attention to receiving the benefits of all the different food groups and try to avoid processed foods, you may run into the problem of a buildup of waste inside your system. This is especially bad when it affects the liver and the colon, two of the most important organs in the body that play an important role in protecting the body from future damage. To give these vital organs a needed rest, there are a number of body detox recipes that can be used to help give the body a fighting chance to cleanse itself.
One of the major food groups that are helpful to both organs when utilized in body detox recipes is that of fresh fruits and vegetables. This is primarily because they contain powerful antioxidants, which are molecules that fight free radicals within the body. This happens in a process in which they are able to stop the oxidation process of other molecules, which then stops the deadly process of cellular degeneration that leads to cancer and other diseases within the body. While the liver usually has to pull off the duty of performing this function, by providing it with backup support in the form of antioxidant-rich foods, you are able to leave it free to cleanse itself.
An example of a perfect antioxidant-packed body detox recipe is a salad composed of fresh spinach, grapefruit sections, and drizzled with vinaigrette composed of flax seed oil and fresh raspberry vinegar. A splash of fresh lemon juice helps top it off, for maximum cleansing benefits. Not only does this combine omega-3 fatty acids, but it also has an excess of vitamin C, which is one of the most important and powerful antioxidants available. Many times, detox cooking is simply a matter of combining all of these ingredients in different stages. Fresh salads are only one of the many different ways in which a person can accomplish this.
Another group of body detox recipes would combine these same building blocks of antioxidant-laden fruits and vegetables and would put them into juices or smoothies. You can go a long way towards a great liver detox with simply a couple of grapefruits and a small knob of fresh grated ginger, which both have been shown to improve circulation and are both quite rich in vital antioxidants that help the body cleanse itself overall, from liver to colon and everywhere in between.
